Gen K is looking for new board members for 2022-2023!

Vacancies Board 2022-2023

Positions that are opening up:

On the Board of Gen K, the positions of Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and General Board Member are opening up. Aside from the duties and responsibilities that are specified for each position below, being on the Board of Gen K entails representing Gen K, creating and providing a safe and welcoming environment for members, attending events, and of course, weekly board meetings to make this and more possible.

What is a Study Association:

Since Gen K is a study association, the association and its members are specifically tied to the Gender Studies department of Utrecht University rather than being a student association open to all students enrolled at Utrecht University. The study association is run by a board that represents the members, all Gender Studies and Postcolonial Studies Students at Utrecht University. The Board also oversees possible Committees, like the Activities Committee and the Alumni Committee, of which members can become part as well.  As a study association, Gen K provides students from the different Gender Studies programs with academic enrichment, career development and social interaction.

Workload:

Gen K is only a year old, meaning there is a lot of room for new initiatives. As a board member, you will be able to work with the rest of the board to continue to set up the association and influence the direction of Gen K for the upcoming years.  As Gen K is a relatively new study association, the board is small and the responsibility to organize, host and promote events is a collective responsibility and tasks can be divided depending on the event. Though it differs slightly from position to position and week to week, being a board member will require about 4-8 hours of work a week.

If you have any questions about being on the board of Gen K or about specific positions, feel free to reach out to us. You can apply by filling out the form at the bottom of this page before September 30th, 2022.
